CBSD In-House Computer Repair Specialists Earn Lenovo’s Elite Servicer Award

Central Bucks School District is proud to announce that the district’s Building Computer Specialist Team, entering its third full school year as a participant in the Lenovo Certified Warranty Self-Maintainer Program, has earned the program’s Elite Servicer Award for its speed and skill in repairing student, faculty and staff laptops.

This specialized program allows CBSD’s certified technical staff to perform in-house hardware repairs on Lenovo systems, ensuring that student, faculty and staff laptops are maintained efficiently and effectively during their warranty period.

The team was recognized for its achievement by Superintendent Dr. Steven Yanni and the School Board at the Board’s September 10 business meeting.

Through Lenovo’s program, the BCS Team has reduced average repair times from two weeks to two days. This rapid turnaround supports the productivity and success of students, faculty and staff, and is made possible through a partnership with FedEx, which ensures overnight delivery of necessary parts. The accolade also attests to the strong relationship that has been cultivated between CBSD and Lenovo.

The leadership the BCS Team has displayed from the beginning of the district’s entry into Lenovo’s self-maintainer program helped to establish a great level of service,” said Brenda Parker, CBSD’s dedicated service consultant from Lenovo who assists with parts challenges, gathers feedback, and monitors performance statistics. “Subsequent meetings have confirmed that the team takes pride in having a well-run shop and the metrics speak for themselves. I appreciate CB’s team of technicians!”

Harry Krotz, the district’s supervisor of building technology services (pictured with Dr. Yanni), has been instrumental in advocating for a more self-sufficient repair process for the CBSD team of building technicians. The faith in his team’s abilities led to his interest in obtaining this elite certification.

Since the beginning of our 1‑to‑1 student laptop rollout in 2018, Harry made it a goal to ensure repair time of student devices was the least restrictive to the teaching and learning process,” said Lindsay Smith, assistant director of technology and innovation. “As our 1‑to‑1 program grew to all 17,000 students, Harry and our BCS team made it clear that they wanted to take repairs into their own hands. We are proud of their efforts and appreciate their ongoing innovation around improving the support we provide students and staff every day. Their collaboration as a team saves our district ample time and money.”

CBSD applied for the Lenovo Certified Warranty Self-Maintainer Program in the winter of 2021 and completed the enrollment process by the end of that year. The 2022–2023 school year was the team’s first full year in the program.

As we enter our third year in the program,” Krotz said, “our BCS Team remains committed to excellence in maintaining CB’s technology resources to ensure students, faculty and staff can be successful and productive in their work and study.”
