Pennsbury Learning Gardens Toured by Waste Management Partners

Pennsbury School District is honored to be included among numerous local partners to Waste Management, Inc. (WM) in the development and care of local learning gardens. Other local entities partnering with WM in this effort include the Falls Township Senior Center, Pennsbury Manor, The Pen Ryn School, and the Bucks County Audubon Society. One morning in July, representatives of these distinguished WM partners gathered to take a tour of five Pennsbury learning gardens. These included sites at the following schools: Afton Elementary, Quarry Hill Elementary, Makefield Elementary, Pennwood Middle School, and Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary. “It was such a rewarding experience for our partners…to see the community connectivity and opportunities for habitat enhancement between our partnership gardens and Pennsbury’s,” said Judy Archibald, a representative of Waste Management. “We certainly recognize the amount of work that goes into maintaining these gardens so that they will thrive. We congratulate those who have taken the time from their busy schedules and made the commitment to the gardens and the pollinators, butterflies, and wildlife that they support.” Thanks go to the staff members and/or PTO leaders in each of those buildings for helping to guide and inform the group that day.
