Pennsbury Basketball Team Extends Outreach to Elementary Schools

In keep­ing with a tra­di­tion begun by PHS teacher and coach, Frank Sciolla, 20 years ago, the Varsity Girls Basketball Team trav­els to the Pennsbury ele­men­tary schools where they con­duct assem­blies on the impor­tance of read­ing and student-teacher rela­tion­ships. “They do this the day before the game and then the next night at the home game, that school’s cho­rus sings the National Anthem,” said Mr. Sciolla. “This dates back to my time as the Boys’ coach. Additionally, if stu­dents come up to me dur­ing the JV game and intro­duce them­selves and tell me about a book they are read­ing, they are allowed to come in and watch the pre-game talk with the team.” Special con­grat­u­la­tions to the Varsity Girls Basketball team this year, which earned the SOL National Conference Co-Championship!
