In keeping with a tradition begun by PHS teacher and coach, Frank Sciolla, 20 years ago, the Varsity Girls Basketball Team travels to the Pennsbury elementary schools where they conduct assemblies on the importance of reading and student-teacher relationships. “They do this the day before the game and then the next night at the home game, that school’s chorus sings the National Anthem,” said Mr. Sciolla. “This dates back to my time as the Boys’ coach. Additionally, if students come up to me during the JV game and introduce themselves and tell me about a book they are reading, they are allowed to come in and watch the pre-game talk with the team.” Special congratulations to the Varsity Girls Basketball team this year, which earned the SOL National Conference Co-Championship!
