Upper Bucks County Technical School (UBCTS) Animal Technology students recently participated in the PA Farm Show. UBCTS is one of two schools in the state who attend the show as a team.
These dedicated and talented students tirelessly spent the last four months preparing their animals for the junior market show and assist with the various show committees. They left for their five day and four night adventure on January 5, 2019, with hopes and aspirations of doing well.
They did not disappoint. The entire team performed well with certain students gaining individual accolades for their individual accomplishments. Casey Keeler won Grand Champion in the Other Purebreds Class with her pig, August. This was UBCTS’ first grand champion. “Congratulations to Mrs. Danka and her students for a job well done. It was nice to see their hard work pay off,” said Michael Herrera, CTE Supervisor at UBCTS.
Also, Level 1 Sophomores Sierra Kapusta, Kerrin Long, and Caleb Roth were awarded their FFA jackets during a ceremony signaling a bright future for the FFA chapter at UBCTS. It should be noted that Kerrin Long and Caleb Roth performed very well at the FFA Career and Development Event earlier this year. Kerrin placed 5th out of 127 students in Horse Judging and Caleb Roth 3rd out of 100 students in Dairy Cattle Judging at their first event.
