Megan Jackson has been selected as the Upper Bucks County Technical School’s Student of the Month for January. Megan is a senior at Quakertown Community High School and is enrolled in the Baking & Pastry Arts program at UBCTS. Megan joined the Baking & Pastry Arts program four years ago as a freshman because she enjoys baking at home and wanted to hone her skill set.
Megan demonstrates academic and technical excellence. She was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society at UBCTS and National Honor Society at Quakertown. She is currently serving as the SkillsUSA President for UBCTS and represented her class last year in the SkillsUSA District Competition for Cake Decorating.
Chef Penn, who is the Baking & Pastry Arts teacher at UBCTS, identified her as a true leader in the class. She has awarded Megan with the Outstanding Student of the Year for her level every year. She is someone Chef can count on to fill in and do anything she needs. She has earned the respect of her peers and jumps in to help them when needed.
Megan is very involved in extracurricular activities. She is a member of Quakertown’s indoor drumline. She plays 11 different instruments (auxiliary percussion) and was also a member of the Panther Marching Band. She is also a group leader for the International Exchange Student Organization. When her schedule slows down, she works at Red Robin as a line-cook.
Megan’s future plans are to attend a small college to earn a Bachelor’s degree in English and Literature. She has received acceptance letters from Albright, Lebanon Valley, Lycoming, and Arcadia and is evaluating her options.
