Council Rock Teacher Wins Scholarship to Attend Space Across the Curriculum Educator Training

Congratulations to Council Rock teacher, Andrea Mangold,  attended a three-day training in Colorado Springs at the Space Foundation Discovery Center as a recipient of the Dr. Rochelle Abrams Space Across the Curriculum Educator Training Scholarship. Ms. Mangold’s trip to the Discovery Center was fully funded thanks to the new funding stream. A goal of the Dr. Rochelle Abrams Space Across the Curriculum Educator Training Scholarship is to help teachers inspire students to pursue careers in the space industry by integrating spaced-themed activities across content areas at all grade levels. Ms. Mangold was selected through a competitive essay and application process open to Space Foundation Teacher Liaisons. A Teacher Liaison since 2016, she was a natural fit for this summer professional learning experience. After spending three days immersed in hands-on learning, Ms. Mangold came back home with strategies, lessons, and materials to share with her school and district colleagues. Such materials include merge cube augmented reality devices and a class set of lenses to make telescopes.
