Led by Shannon Hamilton, Autistic Support Teacher at the Bucks IU at Samuel Everitt, the Stockings for Soldiers campaign is entering its 6th year! This amazing program serves so many good purposes. As the name denotes, it benefits members of our military stationed overseas by sending them necessities and fun items — a little touch of caring from home while they are not here for the holidays. For our Bucks IU students, individuals with complex needs, the opportunity to participate in this allows them to practice social skills, sorting, organizing, taking inventory, doing packaging — all things that provide great life-skills training. What it means for these students to have a chance to ‘give back’ is evident in their smiles, excitement, and dedication to this program.
This year’s goal is 1,500 stockings!
