Intermediate Units were established in 1971 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly and their role has evolved and grown over these past 50 years. IUs serve as a critical educational service agency providing cost-effective, management-efficient programs to public and private K‑12 schools, school districts, and their communities. They also address both traditional and emerging needs, serving as an essential link for learning in Pennsylvania, and as a liaison between local schools and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Pennsylvania has 29 IUs covering the entire state — Happy Birthday to Us All!
The image with this post was a wonderful birthday card designed by one of our own Bucks IU students at the Bucks IU at Samuel Everitt — thank you, we love it!!
