Bucks IU Awarded Flag Flown Over the Washington Capital

Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick honored the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) with a flag that had flown over the US Capital buidling in Washington DC.  The honor was bestowed in recogniton of the 5th Anual Stockings for Soldiers event.  Designed to send some cheer to our military personnel stationed away from home over the holidays, the program has grown from 100 stockings its first year to 1,400 in this it’s 5th anniversary.

The program has expanded from being tied to educational supports for the students of just one classroom to now encompassing the entire Bucks IU at Samuel Everitt so that every student has an opportunity to participate in a way that best supports their individual educational program.

Another inspiring aspect of the event is how it brings together so many businesses and organizations throughout Bucks County — what an amazing community effort!
