Paleontologists, Mike and Roberta Straka, visited with second graders at Afton and Quarry Hill elementary schools as a tie-in with the Pennsbury science curriculum. “The students learned a lot from the presenters,” shared Afton teacher, Rhea Jones. “They were very organized and engaging. There was a lot of opportunity for student participation during the assembly. In the classrooms, all of the students had a chance to participate in the “dig” for fossils. The fossils that the students actually unearthed were real fossils, not plastic or toys, and Roberta and Mike went around and identified them for the children, as well. On the whole, it matched our first science unit nicely and I would definitely recommend it!” The visits to both schools were sponsored by the Pennsbury Partners Program.
