Over the course of the school year the students have chatted back and forth on Google Classroom, responding to topics that have to do with social life, personal life, hobbies, likes, dislikes, etc. The students were partnered up and have developed a relationship, but had never met.
On Monday, June 3rd, the 10th graders arrived at Valley on buses to meet their CONNECT partners for the first time!
Each high schooler welcomed their buddy with open arms, and enjoyed two hours of outdoor fun in the beautiful weather. While a large group of boys participated in football and basketball matches, the girls came prepared with picnic blankets and music to make the sixth-graders feel more comfortable. Some played board games or cards.
The afternoon concluded with a pizza party. Mr. Taylor and Mrs. Phillips plan to continue the CONNECT Program for the 2019–20 school year!
