Council Rock Makes it a “Day On” in Honor of MLK

For the 13th year in a row, Council Rock School District celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on his birthday with an expansive CR CARES initiative. This year’s MLK Day celebration began at 9:30 AM in the Council Rock High School South Auditorium, where select students read their winning essays on the meaning of “A Day On.” State Representatives Thomas and Warren were each in attendance to recognize the students who delivered their moving “Day On” compositions.

In another part of the school, preparations were underway for a well-coordinated service project. From 9:30 –10:30 AM nearly 300 student volunteers worked collectively to assemble CR CARES packages, sort food, and make friendship cards and blankets for local and international distribution to the following groups and organizations: Wrightstown Food Cupboard, Bucks County Emergency Shelter, Pendell Food Cupboard, Delaware Valley Veterans Home, and Deployed Military at Camp Manio, Iraq.
