In the spring of 2018, Farmers Insurance announced that Neshaminy High School was a finalist in their $100,000 Dream Big Grant competition — one of only 15 in the nation and the only one in Pennsylvania.
The Neshaminy community is rallying to help to finish the job and secure one of five of these grants to be awarded in December. During the month of October, visitors to the Farmers Insurance Dream Big 100K Contest website can vote once a day per email for this grant proposal, which was submitted by NHS science teacher James Maloney in collaboration with his Neshaminy HS colleague Jacqueline Rippert. It will involve students across subject areas collaborating to create a ‘Greenhouse Classroom’ to research, plan, grow, process and distribute a sustainable supply of produce right in the high school.
