Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) inducted a record thirty-seven new student members. The mission of the NTHS is to honor student achievement and leadership in career and technical education, promote educational excellence, award scholarships, and enhance career opportunities for the NTHS membership.
Nomination into the National Technical Honor Society is an important achievement for select students. Society membership is a valuable investment, the highest award of excellence in workforce education in America. To qualify for nomination at MBIT, students must be nominated by a professional staff member, maintain an “A” average in his/her technical area, maintain a 3.4 average or better in all academic areas, be a 200 level student or higher, exhibit good character and leadership, have a discipline record with no detentions or suspensions throughout previous and current school years, plan to pursue a career or college major in their technical field of study, and have demonstrated community service experiences. In addition, Dr. Janice Solkov was inducted as an honorary member of the Middle Bucks NTHS. The status of honorary membership recognizes a supporter who has played an important role in developing a strong community partnership.
Dr. Jan Solkov. was Chair of the MBIT school’s Executive Council for two years. and also serves on the Local Advisory Council as a member, and recently as Vice Chair, and Chair. Dr. Solkov has a background in education as a teacher, principal, central office administrator, college professor, school board member, co-founder of a dual language school, and education consultant.
