Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has awarded nearly $1.2 million in competitive grants to 32 Career and Technical Centers (CTC) throughout Pennsylvania. Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) located in Jamison, PA was awarded $34,902.00 that will be matched by the school for a total of $69,804. The grant will be used to enhanced programs updating curriculum, providing professional development on the new equipment and related credentialing exam, and purchasing equipment that students will use to learn the new skills. Specifically, MBIT plans to purchase a walk-through metal detector and SCBA air tanks for the Public Safety program, portable MIG and TIG welders and a Bridgeport Milling machine for the Welding Technology program and a SeeSnake Micro Video Inspection Camera systems for the Plumbing program. It is through grant opportunities such as this that MBIT is able to maintain state of the art industry-specific equipment that provides students with applicable training.
