21st Annual Golf Classic at the Doylestown Country Club on July 23, 2018

Proceeds Benefit the Education Foundation of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit

May 29, 2018 — Doylestown PA:   The Education Foundation of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) is excit­ed to be hold­ing their 21st Annual Golf Classic Benefit on Monday July 23, 2018 at The Doylestown Country Club, locat­ed on Country Club Lane in Doylestown Pennsylvania.  Home to a stun­ning and chal­leng­ing 18-hole golf course and won­der­ful club­house, offer­ing superb cui­sine, this pri­vate club will be open to the pub­lic this one day just for this spe­cial event.  All pro­ceeds ben­e­fit the Bucks IU Education Foundation; an inde­pen­dent, pri­vate, 501©3 non­prof­it, char­i­ta­ble orga­ni­za­tion whose objec­tive it is to fund cre­ative and inno­v­a­tive edu­ca­tion­al oppor­tu­ni­ties for Bucks County stu­dents with spe­cial needs.  To date, the Education Foundation has award­ed over $450,000 in grants.

The Golf Classic will begin with a love­ly buf­fet lun­cheon fol­lowed by a shot­gun start of 18 holes of golf with snacks and bev­er­ages sup­plied at the 5th and 13th holes.   The always excit­ing, and chal­leng­ing, putting con­test will be a fea­tured activ­i­ty once again. Finals for the putting con­test will be held once every­one has com­plet­ed their round of golf.  The recep­tion fol­low­ing includes an open bar, cock­tail food sta­tions, and din­ner fea­tur­ing roast beef, meat­balls, wings, and ribs.  During the din­ner ser­vice breaks, the awards cer­e­mo­ny and door prizes pre­sen­ta­tion will be held. Tickets for the full day of golf, food and activ­i­ties are $200, with $35 tick­ets avail­able for any­one who may wish to just attend the recep­tion and awards cer­e­mo­ny.   Participation in addi­tion­al games and activ­i­ties that will take place through­out the day, is optional.

NEW in March 2018 — STEAM Saturdays from the Bucks County Intermediate Unit

A New Out-of-School Program for Students in Grades 1–8

February 2, 2018 — Doylestown PA:   The Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) is very excit­ed to be offer­ing a new pro­gram in line with our con­tin­ued expan­sion in STEAM Education. ‘STEAM Saturdays’ is designed to engage stu­dents in grades 1–8 in Science, Tech­nol­o­gy, Engi­neer­ing, Art, and Math with the goal to inspire and encour­age inter­est with­in our future gen­er­a­tions in STEAM relat­ed skills and occu­pa­tions.  This is achieved by devel­op­ing their 21st cen­tu­ry skills such as advanced prob­lem solv­ing, col­lab­o­ra­tion and team­work, cre­ativ­i­ty and imag­i­na­tion, and crit­i­cal thinking.

Each Saturday ses­sion will engage stu­dents in a dif­fer­ent STEAM topic:

  • March 3, 2018 — Engineering and Design Thinking
  • March 10, 2018 — Robotics and Computer Coding
  • March 17, 2018 – Maker Kids (Creativity, Invention, and Production)

Students will be ful­ly hands-on, uti­liz­ing inter­ac­tive learn­ing in class­rooms facil­i­tat­ed by Pennsylvania-certified teach­ers.  Groups will be sep­a­rat­ed by grade lev­els (1–2, 3–4, 5–6, and
7–8) with tar­get cur­ricu­lum that has been spe­cial­ly pre­pared to be appro­pri­ate to each
learn­ing levels.

All ses­sions will be held at the Bucks IU locat­ed at 705 N. Shady Retreat Road in Doylestown, PA 18901 from 8:30am to 11:30am.   Students may reg­is­ter for any, or all, of the 3 ses­sions at a fee of $47 per Saturday (which includes all Eventbrite pro­cess­ing fees, instruc­tion, mate­ri­als, snack, and take-home infor­ma­tion for families).
