Proceeds Benefit the Education Foundation of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit
May 29, 2018 — Doylestown PA: The Education Foundation of the Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) is excited to be holding their 21st Annual Golf Classic Benefit on Monday July 23, 2018 at The Doylestown Country Club, located on Country Club Lane in Doylestown Pennsylvania. Home to a stunning and challenging 18-hole golf course and wonderful clubhouse, offering superb cuisine, this private club will be open to the public this one day just for this special event. All proceeds benefit the Bucks IU Education Foundation; an independent, private, 501©3 nonprofit, charitable organization whose objective it is to fund creative and innovative educational opportunities for Bucks County students with special needs. To date, the Education Foundation has awarded over $450,000 in grants.
The Golf Classic will begin with a lovely buffet luncheon followed by a shotgun start of 18 holes of golf with snacks and beverages supplied at the 5th and 13th holes. The always exciting, and challenging, putting contest will be a featured activity once again. Finals for the putting contest will be held once everyone has completed their round of golf. The reception following includes an open bar, cocktail food stations, and dinner featuring roast beef, meatballs, wings, and ribs. During the dinner service breaks, the awards ceremony and door prizes presentation will be held. Tickets for the full day of golf, food and activities are $200, with $35 tickets available for anyone who may wish to just attend the reception and awards ceremony. Participation in additional games and activities that will take place throughout the day, is optional.
Corporate and individual sponsorship opportunities are available and range in price from $100 to $2500, and donations to the Education Foundation are always gratefully accepted. NEW in March 2018 — STEAM Saturdays from the Bucks County Intermediate Unit
A New Out-of-School Program for Students in Grades 1–8
February 2, 2018 — Doylestown PA: The Bucks County Intermediate Unit (Bucks IU) is very excited to be offering a new program in line with our continued expansion in STEAM Education. ‘STEAM Saturdays’ is designed to engage students in grades 1–8 in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math with the goal to inspire and encourage interest within our future generations in STEAM related skills and occupations. This is achieved by developing their 21st century skills such as advanced problem solving, collaboration and teamwork, creativity and imagination, and critical thinking.
Each Saturday session will engage students in a different STEAM topic:
- March 3, 2018 — Engineering and Design Thinking
- March 10, 2018 — Robotics and Computer Coding
- March 17, 2018 – Maker Kids (Creativity, Invention, and Production)
Students will be fully hands-on, utilizing interactive learning in classrooms facilitated by Pennsylvania-certified teachers. Groups will be separated by grade levels (1–2, 3–4, 5–6, and
7–8) with target curriculum that has been specially prepared to be appropriate to each
learning levels.
All sessions will be held at the Bucks IU located at 705 N. Shady Retreat Road in Doylestown, PA 18901 from 8:30am to 11:30am. Students may register for any, or all, of the 3 sessions at a fee of $47 per Saturday (which includes all Eventbrite processing fees, instruction, materials, snack, and take-home information for families).
