Central Bucks Hosts Community Awareness Event

More than 400 indi­vid­u­als attend­ed an aware­ness event host­ed by the Central Bucks School District work­ing in coop­er­a­tion with the Office of Pennsylvania Attorney General (AG) Josh Shapiro and the Bucks County Drug & Alcohol Commission (BDAC).

The event, focused on pro­vid­ing infor­ma­tion and resources on opi­oids, vap­ing, and oth­er drugs; fea­tured a “Behind Closed Doors Mock Teen Bedroom” exhib­it pro­vid­ed by the Bensalem Police Department, vap­ing pre­ven­tion and Narcan work­shops led by the Council of Southeast Pennsylvania, pre­sen­ta­tions, a resource fair, and a ques­tion and answer pan­el.

Speakers includ­ed PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro, Bucks County DA Matt Weintraub, BCAC Executive Director Diane Rosati, and Buckingham Township Chief of Police Michael Gallagher. The final speak­er, Tucker Thompson, out­reach coor­di­na

tor for Advanced Health and Education and a CB West grad­u­ate, spoke about his per­son­al expe­ri­ence as a recov­er­ing addict.

The event cul­mi­nat­ed with a ques­tion and answer pan­el that fea­tured CBSD Superintendent Dr. John J. Kopicki, Ms. Rosati, Chief 

Gallagher, and Mr. Thompson. Individuals were invit­ed to sub­mit ques­tions elec­tron­i­cal­ly through­out the evening’s pre­sen­ta­tions, and Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Education, Dr. Abe Lucabaugh, who orga­nized the evening, led the dis­cus­sion. While not all answers were addressed dur­ing the pan­el dis­cus­sion, answers have since been post­ed online.
